Omani Saffron

This fragrant saffron rice is a simple yet elegant dish, perfect as a side or main course.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Canary Basmati rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • A pinch of saffron threads, soaked in warm water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • Almonds and raisins for garnish

Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Wash and soak Canary Basmati rice for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pot, melt butter and add cinnamon and cardamom. Sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add the soaked rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Drizzle the saffron water over the rice and gently stir.
  5. Garnish with almonds and raisins, then serve.

Chef’s Tip: For added flavor, fry the almonds and raisins in butter before adding them to the rice.
